"Dark & funny" award-winning songwriter
The Blue Room, St Aldates Tavern - St Aldate's Tavern, Saint Aldate's, Oxford, United Kingdom
A rare solo show as Charlie Dore shares personal favourites, rarities, curios and unique takes on songs she has written for platinum-selling artists, some never before performed live. There's also a rumoured sneak preview of a couple of songs from her new album, due June 2020!
This will be a multi-layered show as Charlie swaps between guitar, piano, ukulele and harmonium, for background in folk and roots very much in evidence, as are her years of experience as an actor and improviser. The stories between the songs are often dark and funny, the rapport with her audience always instant and relaxed.
This multi-award-winner is one of only a handful of contemporary writers to have had success across so many different genres; Tina Turner, George Harrison, and Celine Dion have all covered Charlie's songs.
The Blue Room is up a steep flight of stairs and as such is not suitable for wheelchair users. Please accept our apologies for this.
To purchase tickets for this event please click on ‘Get tickets’ above.
We are offering three ticket types for this event:
- Standard ticket is the ‘normal’ price that we would charge for the event
- Pay a bit more is for those who can afford to, and would like to help support live music and our artists
- Pay a bit less is for those who would find the standard ticket a bit of a stretch, for whatever reason
You can purchase whichever ticket you like; you don’t need to give a reason, and you won’t be asked for any proof of need.
We are trialling this ticket system to help make our events more accessible to more people, and to allow those who would happily pay a bit more to do so easily, helping us to subsidise tickets for those who can’t afford them.
